Despite our best intentions, we will all have cases during our career where the outcome is compromised, and the patient is not happy. You may also inherit (or be referred) cases where similar complications have occurred. This could mean a breakdown in either the bone grafting stages or the soft tissue stages or both. You will also encounter cases where peri-implantitis ensues earlier or later and crestal bone loss occurs.Â
This comprehensive two-day course will explore the reasons for adverse complications and steps to minimise such complications from occurring. Once a complication has occurred, step by step techniques will be shown how to correct soft tissue and mucogingival issues. Â
This course will also describe the causes of early and late peri-implantitis with clear and detailed analysis on when we should try to save an ailing implant and the techniques available to improve the prognosis of this approach. This will include considerations for implant cleaning, regrafting with bone and soft tissue correction with soft tissue grafting.Â
Once an implant is failed, we will discuss the decision tree for timing of implant removal, bone grafting and soft tissue grafting prior to, or during new implant installation.Â
